My own Etsy store

Proper things

It makes me feel a bit dirty, but I just have to do it. Promote my own Etsy store, that is. Right now there are three screenprints available and more to come. They’re $50 a piece and in my biased opinion they’re well worth it. So, come have a look! :)

“Mammals”, a print series by Staffan Björck. The prints are 60x80 cm and all the shapes and forms are torn out from paper. No plastic film, no computer.

Keep it simple, Staffan!

I’m really impressed by the work of the illustrators and graphic artists at Product of God. This is a piece by London silkscreen artist (and musical engineer) Kate Gibb. I love the color palette (I’m a sucker for pink) and the positive/negative space, though as I look through her other work (you should look through it too) I see that those elements change, fairly dramatically with each piece. She doesn’t seem to have a “safety zone”.

“I’m going to bed now” says the Marmot.
Handprinted by Kate Sutton. The slight misregistration gives the print authenticity and makes you feel the artist’s love for it embedded in each print.
Also, I can’t get enough of “behind the screens” pictures from screenprinting studios.

Weird and noisy, but somehow it also feels hamonious.

Andy McInnis and his friends are working on a book on cheap diy screenprinting, which sounds like a really great initiative. Screenprinting is really (really) cheap and simple but browsing the internet I get the feeling that many printmakers have forgotten that, using big ass expensive printers and super special high tech film. My hope is that Screen printing on the cheap will inspire people new to printmaking to start working with silkscreen as well as remind the old farts that you really don’t need the expensive mumbo jumbo hunkajunks to make great art.

This is such a great initiative and I’ll definately support it as soon as a kickstarter page is up.

The illustration is fantastic in it’s own, but the coloring tops it off outstandingly.
